My Bookstore holds a strict privacy policy. Customer information is treated confidentially and is kept strictly secured. All information collected is used for purposes only as they are described in this privacy policy. In general, this means that we use the information for customer orders to be handled as quickly and smoothly as possible. In addition, we use the information collected to learn about customers online behaviour and to improve our services based on that.

For purposes other than those mentioned in this policy, we will solely use your information after having asked and gained your consent. We also do not sell information to any third parties and it will only be made available to third parties directly involved in the execution of your order. Lastly, you have the right to access, modify, and delete any of our information concerning you.

By accessing our website, you acknowledge and agree to the uses of information described in this privacy policy.

1—Which information we collect

When you visit our website, we collect information about you and about your use of our website. The information we collect can be categorized in three types: Customer Information, Usage Data and IP Address Details. Depending on the category, the information may be considered to be personally identifiable information (PII).

Customer Information

This is the type of information that you, as a customer, provide to us yourselves when you make an online purchase through our webshop, or when you register to receive our newsletters. This information includes your:

● Email address
● Shipping and billing addresses
● Payment details

Customer information can identify you as a person.

The cookies are places by us, and by third parties (for example, by ING Bank and Facebook, see: “Who we share our information with”)

IP address

When you use our website (or any other website), the computer from which the webpages are served (the web server), has to know the network address of your computer. This is necessary to be able to send the requested web pages to your browser. The public network address associated with your computer is called the "public IP address" and is sent automatically every time you access any website. From this public IP address it’s usually possible to determine the general geographic location of that computer. It is often not possible to specify the specific computer and user. However, if your public IP address is unique to you and disclosed publicly, it may be possible to use that IP address to uniquely identify you.

2—What we do with this information

Customer Information

We use your customer information for:

● Processing and filling orders placed by you, and keeping you informed about the status of orders placed by you
● Sending you our newsletter. (And when you no longer wish to receive our newsletter, you can easily unsubscribe. See “communication via email” down below)
● To facilitate placing orders with us more than once. When creating a personal My Bookstore account, we store your information on our secured server to prevend you from having to fill out your information again and again with every new order you place.

My Bookstore uses the latest 128-bit SSL (Secure sockets layer) encryption technology to protect your customer information when you place an order at our webshop.

Communication by mail

If you no longer wish to receive our newsletter, you can inform us hereof by a simple email to info@mybookstore.eu (our customer service email address). You can also unsubscribe by clicking the "Unsubscribe" link at the bottom of the newsletter.

Communication by phone

Besides your email address, you van also disclose your phone number to us. We will only call you if you have chosen “Phone” as your preferred medium of correspondence.

We use functional cookies: cookies that are a technical necessity to enable our website to function, and thus place an order through our webshop. Any visitor of online websites can set his browser (per computer and per browser) in such a way for cookies to be disabled. (More information about this follows later in this statement.)

Cookies are also used as a tool to understand and analyse our customers’ online behaviour. These cookies gather information about the quality or effectiveness of a service delivered through our website. These can be analytical cookies, A / B testing cookies and affiliate cookies. These cookies are only used to measure the quality and effectiveness of a service. This allows us to focus our marketing activities and optimize the overall shopping experience for customers on our website.

Information about your (geographical) locations enables us to give you a tailormade experience. This is done by showing you content based on your location, such as local currency and prices, local advertisements and content in your preferred language. Cookies are also used for remarketing purposes (sometimes referred to as retargeting). We do this to ensure that the ads shown match our customer’s personal interest. The cookies identify users—visiting a certain website, displaying a certain brand of goods or services—to then show this user advertisements of these brands on other websites as well. Thus, after you have visited our website, you (or anyone using your computer) could come across My Bookstore adds on certain participating third-party websites, including Google Display Network and Facebook. Customer information is never disclosed to third parties for retargeting purposes.

When you place an order with us, we could register your IP address for security reasons. That IP address could then be associated with your customer data in our records. The register of IP addresses help sus to understand our customers’ online behaviour.

3—Who we share this information with

We share Usage Data (the information we collect through placing cookies) with several other parties.

We also enable other external service providers to help with various things. We only share the information necessary for the service that the external party is providing for us. We do not sell your information to these service providers or other third parties. We have agreements with all external service providers in which we agree on what they can do with your data.

The type of work that our external service providers for us are:

• the support in providing our digital services such as hosting, maintenance and support of our websites and applications;
• supporting our customer service;
• support our advertising and marketing campaigns;
• supporting when doing customer research and getting ratings and reviews;
• providing financial services, such as payment services, collection agencies and credit reporting agencies.

4—‘Opting out’ possibilities

We acknowledge ‘do not track’ signals. Whenever a ‘do not track’ (DNT) browser mechanism is in place, we will no longer follow you, place cookies, or advertise.

If you no longer want your customer information, usage data, or IP address to be used for certain purposes, you could do one or more of the following:

● Unsubscribe from receiving any online communication from uw, by clicking the ‘unsubscribe’ button at the bottom of our news letter, advertisement or other type of communcation
● Remove existing cookies from your browser and/or disable cookies on your computer and/or other devices
● Change your ad preference settings in Google and Facebook, and on the platforms of other providers, if you have access to do so

Please note: Disableing cookies may limit the ability to place an order in our webshop. Many of the services provided by third parties, such as ING Group N.V., are integrated into our online sales model. Refusing to disclose customer information could prevent us from completing online transactions. In addition, your overall experience on our website will be less personalized and may make your shopping experience less enjoyable. Removing existing cookies from your web browser may also result in loss of recorded information for other websites, such as previously used usernames and passwords.

You can always contact us through our customer service if you want acces to your customer information or any other personal information we may have about you. We will answer you within a reasonable time and (with certain exceptions) provide you with the access requested. We can correct and change any personal information that is incorrect, no longer up-to-date, complete or relevant, or misleading where it is reasonable to do so.

5—Final remarks

We may revise this privacy policy, for example because our website or rules and regulations concerning cookies have changed. We are allowed to make changes of content in this privacy policy, and cookies on our website, without notification of our customers. Any revised privacy policy will apply to customer information and usage data that we already have about you at the time of the change, and any information that is made or received after the change is in force.
