Boekentips van Richard - Week 20 en 21

Hello all!

We have just received a nice batch of English books on various subjects. Much about art, fashion and design. These are also perfect gifts. Furthermore, in the coming period, many barbecues, drinks and beach parties will be about Murat Isik. He won the Libris Literature Prize. Very deserved if you ask me. Murat was here in the shop last March with his friend Chris Polanen. For literary promises you have to be at My Bookstore. That is why I would like to tell you once more about the conversation with Freek van Kraaikamp on 24 May (more info: https://bit.ly/2Gf8ZXa ) and the book club on 6 June (more info: https://bit.ly/ 2rFxIP1). Keep an eye on our Facebook or sign up for the newsletter (here: https://bit.ly/2rG21WL), because there are many more interesting events coming up!

Catwalking by Chris Moore and Alexander Fury

Fashion shows are crazy, beautiful, energetic and dreamy. The photography of Chris Moore shows all facets of these shows. It is not only about the clothes, but also the light, the set and the music play a big role. The lyrics were written by Alexander Fury, who is known as one of the best fashion journalists in the world. He was once chosen as Fashion Commentator of the Year. His articles are intelligent, sensitive and funny without being faint. I secretly hope that he will ever release a novel.

I am another of Arthur Rimbaud

Murat Isik has a very interesting insight into life in the Bijlmer with Wees. That district really counts as a character in the book. Isik has also very nicely described the course of his neighborhood. The Bijlmer has of course had different image's in recent years and its descriptions are revealing but also make it even more curious. The way he describes family dynamics is also very effective. A justified winner!
